VMC Hooks come under the beady eye of Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He's the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.

IN 2010, VMC (Viellard Migeon and Company) celebrated 100 years of fishing hook production in France – that’s how far back their expertise in hook manufacture goes.

Flicking through their latest, 2018 Retail Catalogue, I can see there are some cracking patterns on their way to British tackle shops, thanks to Normark UK having picked up the distribution.

Catching my eye are Mystic Match, in barbed and barbless patterns, and the needle sharp, PTFE-coated, Mystic Carp designs, not forgetting to mention their 75 Series range of treble hooks for lures and baits. There’s also some Mystic Predator patterns, too, especially designed for lure anglers.

Price: from £1.49 a pack.
