The Savage Gear 3D Roach Lures come under the beady eye of Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He's the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.

AS ROACH are one of the most popular food sources for predators, it’s not surprising to see Savage Gear expanding their realistic 3D Roach lure family.

There’s a complete new juvenile roach range, in 7.5 cm, 10 cm and 12.5 cm sizes. Starting at 4 g, I’m certain they will attract perch, zander and pike.

Available in a Roach, Dirty Roach and Firetiger finish, I like the look of the Swim N Jerk design, which features an open mouth, providing a snug fit for a jig head. Coming complete with two hinge points, these lures give an S-curve action when retrieved.

There are also small Paddle Tail lures that’ll suit a jig head, too, and a 3D Roach pattern with an integrated J hook. The larger size also comes with a belly mounted treble hook, offering a better chance of a good hook-hold.

The Savage Gear team have also added a 3D River Roach range, in 18 cm (70g) and 22 cm (125g) sizes.

‘Swimming’ and ‘kicking’, even at slow speed, they have a ‘nervous’ flanking action, making them ideal for mounting on a corkscew rig.

All available in five finishes, they come complete with a tail rattle.

Price: from £7.99 to £19.99 a pack (2 to 4 lures).
