The RidgeMonkey RM-Tec Braided Mainline comes under the beady eye of Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He's the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.
FOLLOWING on from the RM-Tec Mono and Fluoro releases I reported earlier this summer come the first of two braided main lines from forward-thinkers RidgeMonkey.
RM-Tec Braided Mainline is a low-diameter, extremely high abrasion resistant, sinking, eight-yarn weave braid. It’ll offer enhanced bite indication at range, as well as allowing you to get on top of fish early when fishing near to snags or in weedy swims.
The near-zero stretch is also useful when you’re feeling for that reassuring ‘donk’ when you’re following the lead down.
It’s olive green, so it blends in, casts well, and will sink to hug the bottom contours report the RidgeMonkey crew.
During the extensive testing period, they reported carp to over 50 lb whilst using it – at home and abroad.
It’s available in 20 lb (0.28 mm) and 30 lb (0.35 mm) breaking strains on 300 m spools. I also hear that a floating Spod and Marker braid is on its way.
Price: £24.99 for 300 m.
