CARP KINETICS METHOD MIX

£5 for 2 kg
A blast of marzipan greets you when opening the bag. There are back notes of orangey fruit, too. The texture is very fine, but has some very big particles of seeds and nuts in the pale brick coloured mix.
Mixes well, but needs a little less water than others on test. Is quite sticky when mixed and keeps the pale red colour. Best to riddle before use.
SCORE: 26/30

PALLATRAX BLOODWORM CRUSH

£11.95 for 3 kg
Supplied in a great bucket, this mix is a real high-tech blend of crushed seeds, insects and milk proteins. Quite pale in colour, but with flecks of red that spread when mixed. Smells mainly of hemp and cereal.
Mixing 50/50 with water makes a very soft mix, so take care and use water sparingly. Looks a little pinkish due to Robin Red, but this fades after a while. Stays soft and will be better for natural waters and mixed species.
SCORE: 27/30

DYNAMITE BAITS XL GLM

£5.75 for 2 kg
There is certainly a strong aroma of green-lipped mussel and a little spice. Very fine texture with few particles can almost be squeezed without adding water.
Mixes easily and can take plenty of water and not much further work. Ready to use within a few minutes of mixing, and the deep green colour stays when mixed.
Breaks down well in water, but is quite a sticky mix. Would make a be a decent paste for wrapping around pellets.
SCORE: 27/30

SENSAS CRAZY BAIT GROUND PELLET METHOD MIX

£5.99 for 2 kg
This is a good all-round mix for carp, bream and F1s. On opening the bag, there’s a strong fishmeal smell with hints of sweet biscuit and vanilla.
Quite a fine mix, but with a generous helping of bigger particles of hemp. Mixes very quickly with 50/50 water, and then has a stronger fishmeal smell. Stays really easy to use after an hour, but is a bit stodgy and sticky, good if that is what you need.
SCORE: 28/30

SONUBAITS MATCH METHOD MIX

£5.99 for 2 kg
A free feeder and resealable bag are nice touches. The mix has a mild fishmeal smell and very fine sandy colour. A few flecks of red and green hint at particles. Very easy to mix, holding well on a feeder but breaking down quickly. Can be used very quickly after mixing 50/50, but needs another dampening after an hour. This could be a very good paste mix.
SCORE: 28/30

BEST BUY

BAIT-TECH HALIBUT MARINE METHOD MIX

£5.99 for 2 kg
This mix is superb for either carp or barbel, whether mixed dryer for fast breakdown, or wetter to stay sticky. It will also make a good paste.
From the bag, looks dark and oily with a few lighter flecks and very strong fishmeal smell. Mixes up very easily to a darker colour, exuding fish attracting oils.
After mixing, it is ready to use quite quickly and stays in perfect condition for well over an hour.
SCORE: 29/30
