The MAD Madtexx One Man Dome comes under the beady eye of Angler's Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He's the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.

MY first impression of the MAD Madtexx Dome is a good one, as it looks to offer a lot in the way of specification and versatility.

I like the fact that the 15,000 mm waterproof rated hydrostatic head is highly breathable, helping to eliminate condensation.

I also like that the dome has a zipped rear vent with mozzy mesh – useful for improved airflow.

The multiple ‘front’ panel provides full protection, or you can unzip it for an open shelter. Twin zips on the door also allow a panel to be removed, for a letterbox-style configuration. Either side of the door there are zipped mozzy panels, too.

The ribbed, extended peak gets my thumbs up, as it helps keep bad weather out.

Being a two-rib, two-break pole system, the Madtexx Dome rolls up pretty compact, so it’ll fit into most quiver holdalls.

You’ll also see multiple pegging points for height adjustment and getting around uneven terrain.

It comes with a heavy-duty groundsheet, elasticated pegging points, rod retention straps, and heavy-duty pegs in a carry bag.

With dimensions of 260 x 105 x 135 cm, it weighs in at around 5.3 kg. A nylon overwrap is available separately, and there’s also a two-man dome available.
