THE first 40 lb pike of the winter has been caught with a 40 lb 4 oz giant from Somerset’s Chew Valley, venue tipped for a British record.

 

The amazing water continues to produce the goods and latest lucky captor was Mike Heyes.

Whiston, Merseyside-based Mike, 59, was fishing with nephew Paul Millar who caught the lake record of 44 lb 6 oz pike during a trip down to Chew in February.
