Who will care for The Compleat Angler, Izaak Walton’s river, the River Lea?
Since 1992, 22 miles of waterways to the east and north east of London had been under the control of the LAC’s band of 21 local clubs.
But a severe slump in fishing quality and demand has left coarse angling godfather Izaak Walton’s river – spelled Lee or Lea (it’s debated) – on its knees.
And now the LAC’s veteran leader, Dennis Meadhurst (pictured) has retired, with nobody willing to take over.
