River record carp
THIS chunky 40 lb 5 oz common carp is the first 40 lb-plus whacker from the Thames, and it’s one of the biggest river carp ever caught in Britain.
Camberley, Surrey-based plumber Duncan Green made history when the bagged the big ‘un from the lower reaches of Old Father Thames.
The 39-year-old Thames Anglers’ Conservancy member exclusively told the Mail: ‘I met up with my good friend Ashley Stockbridge at sunrise and launched his boat (Fool’s Gold).
‘After a difficult day, enduring blustery conditions, we decided to move for the last few hours and around sunset. I turned to big bad Ash and said: “I’m going to put my lucky ESP Beanie on”.’
