TWO specimen pike have been caught from opposite ends of the country as anglers took advantage of the predators being able to be fished for with flies and lures.

Angler’s Mail pike columnist Andy Black (pictured) proved he can also turn to his favourite species with a fly rod when he boated this stunning personal best of 33 lb 2 oz from Chew Valley in Somerset.

Andy started his first trip of the season to Somerset¹s pike mecca Chew Valley Lake with a bang.

And up in Cumbria, Esthwaite Water has allowed summer piking on lures for the first time and venue regular Chris Harris took full advantage to take a 28 lb 2 oz cracker.
