Midlands barbel record

ANGLER’S MAIL magazine this week reveals how a club IS satisfied by a new midlands barbel record, scaling 17 lb.

The huge fish could have actually been even heavier and the captor opted for the ‘lowest weight’ it could have been!

The Warwickshire Avon’s barbel record was broken as the river season drew to a close, the giant falling on Leamington Angling Association’s stretch at Wasperton.

After doubts were raised on the internet. Angler’s Mail magazine spoke to the club for our news pages, and it seems the fish could now be recognised.

Full story and picture was in issue dated 30 March, 2010.
