THIS 12 lb 11 oz River Trent zander struck just as the light was fading over the banks of its snow-capped Nottinghamshire banks.

Harrogate, North Yorkshire cabbie Dave Tipping feared his 150-mile round trip was going to be in vain so was extra thankful the zed made an appearance.

Dave, 54, said: ‘I got out during a brief, slightly milder interlude in the freezing December weather. The zander took a small roach deadbait, lip-hooked with a size 8 Kamasan B983 single to 15 lb wire on a free-running leger rig.’
