KEEN carper and prolific You Tube contributor Phil Bech recorded one of the biggest authenticated river bream ever with this 12 lb 10 oz slab.

The retired 52-year-old from Liverpool, Merseyside, is a carp angler, but not just any carp angler…he makes candid carping videos under the Carpheadbangers banner, and has built quite a following.

Phil tempted the super slab on a boilie on a spinner rig from an area on a secret Cheshire venue which he’d prebaited with maples.

It’s one of the biggest river bream ever, but not the biggest. Last winter saw a run of outsized specimens from running water. Some of the finest fish graced the pages of Angler’s Mail print magazine.

Henry Rimmer  stunned the big fish world last week with a 14 lb Thames bream from Bourne End, Buckinghamshire, in a brace with an 11 lb 2 oz slab. The 55-year-old landscape gardener, caught his river fish by design on groundbait feeder  with worm and caster.
