Local hero carries UK Angling torch at BBC Sports Personality
AN angling academy organiser is flying the flag for our sport at the prestigious BBC Sports Personality Award show and will be rubbing shoulders with our Olympic heroes like favourite Bradley Wiggins.
Graham Cridland, life president of the West Sussex and Surrey Angling Academy and star of an Inside Line interview earlier this year, was the Southeast region winner for BBC Sports Personality Unsung Hero Award.
He now heads to the big bash on Sunday, December 16, hosted by Tottenham, Leicester and England football legend Gary Linkekar where he will fight it out with 14 other regional winners for the national award.
But Derby-based match fishing star Sean Ashby has NOT been invited to the glamour event despite winning individual gold in the World Coarse Fishing Championships in Portugal in September.
