FISHING guide Martyn Cattermole got some fishing in himself and notched his fifth 30 lb-plus specimen pike.

Martyn decided to target pike on the fly at Somerset’s Chew Valley Lake, the vast reservoir widely rated as the best big pike water in Britain.

His 30 lb 8 oz sample beat his old fly-caught PB of 29 lb 2 oz, but it did take eight years… and around 80 trips to do so.

Boat partner professor Richard Evershed chipped in with another huge croc of 29 lb 8 oz.
