GEORGE WHILEY showed why he is one of the most consistent chub anglers in the country when he landed this 7 lb 4 oz specimen from his local River Lea.

For the cracking chevin is his 21st over the magical 7 lb barrier and 140th over the 6 lb mark – and they’ve all come in the past seven years.

Cheshunt, Hertfordshire-based George explained: ‘I only started proper river fishing seven years ago as I used to concentrate on pike and carp.

‘I’ve noticed I’m catching a lot fewer chub as the seasons progress but the average size is getting much bigger.’
