pikeAFTER exciting few weeks, there were no further developments as regards British record-rocking pike – but Chew Valley Lake has been in storming form despite the dreadful weather.

As the Mail went to press the vast Bristol Water-controlled venue had produced five 30s in just four days.

In an action-packed week in Somerset, pikers braved gale force winds and rain deluges of biblical proportions.

Leighton Ryan, who set a new PB with a deadbait-tempted 35 lb 6 oz croc, said: “It was pretty choppy and the wind actually pulled us off of anchor a couple of times.”
