THE Environment Agency is using a specialist fishing boat to help remove non-native catfish.

Currently working in the North West, the EA is visiting waters to enforce licence conditions and seek the removal of non-native species.

The spread of alien species can have significant consequences for animal and plant communities in rivers and lakes. They can upset the natural balance that operates between species, and also introduce and spread diseases to which our native species cannot survive.
