barbelBUILDING on the success of last year’s Barbel Society Barbel Challenge Jerry Gleeson and his band of merry men are doing it all over again.

They will attempt to capture a barbel each including 20 double figure barbel from 10 English rivers, two from each river five in the north and five in the south, in 10 days.

Jerry will be joined by Paul Floyd, Mark Dutton, Phil Smith and Dave Chambers as they aim to raise money for the Army Benevolent fund.

The event is sponsored again by The Hook bait Company, Wraysbury Baits, The Print Biz and G-force Tackle.

The grueling Challenge starts on August 8 and will see them tackle the rivers Dove, Derwent, Trent, Soar, Wavon, Lea, Kennet, Nene, Colne, Thames, Hampshire Avon and Arun.

Jerry said: ‘The aim is to get sponsors for the team based on the amount double figure barbel caught, on barbel overall or the event as a whole, its hoped members of the angling community, family and friends will get behind this very worthwhile cause.’

Donations can be made via http://www.justgiving.com/jerry-gleeson1 or cheques made payable to The Army Benevolent fund.
