The 46-year-old sea lion handler tackled Cranwells Lake, on the Wasing Estate, in Berkshire, for the big mirror known as the Parrot – tipped to go on to break the British record.

It’s reckoned to be Britain’s biggest carp…. or at least the biggest known carp alive  in this country. The current British record carp, Two Tone, died several years ago.

Adam, from Alton, Hampshire, enthused: “Cranwells really is a unique water as there aren’t many lakes where you can go and catch a fish of this size, as well as getting a number of bites as well.

“On some of the other big fish waters I’ve been on there have been one or two fish out between all the anglers on there in an entire season!”

The catch came soon after the venue re-opened after a break for spawning, and Adam’s haul was reported in full in Angler’s Mail magazine.
