martin-jamesDESPITE worrying ill health caused by multiple sclerosis, evergreen angling hero Martin James MBE is determined to abseil two of Britain’s most famous landmarks.

In another gallant effort to raise money for the Army Benevolent Fund, the 76-year-old is planning his action off the bank, and is also back on it.

Martin told the Mail: “I hope to abseil off the Shard in Central London, if the colonel can get it sorted. I will of course be abseiling off the Big One rollercoaster in Blackpool on June 16.”

Losing his distinctive fluid speech late last year caused Martin to give up his long-running weekly BBC Radio Lancashire fishing show, but he’s still active.
