Kev-GroutMAGGOTS were again the key bait at the UK Carp Cup final, but there was no runaway leader this time as Kev Grout won a tense battle with James Anderson who used 11 gallons (88 pints).

Fished over 40 hours at the prolific Oxlease on Linear Fisheries, Oxford, the final saw 14 of the nation’s best competitive carpers battle it out for the crown and a jackpot of £5,000.

And it was clear that inspiration was drawn from last year’s winner Ryan Need who controversially blasted 336 pints of grubs into his swim – the most radical feeding regime British competition carping has seen.
