THAMES WATER look set to be one of the biggest players in angling after new fisheries man Roo Newby confirmed he’s looking at their vast portfolio of waters.

Just a week after Paul Garner boated a fantastic 31 lb 12 oz pike during a predator trial on their Farmoor Reservoirs in Oxfordshire, Roo said he’s on the hunt for finding more top quality coarse fishing.

Former CEMEX Angling fisheries boss Roo, now access and recreational manager for TW, believes their numerous unfished waters, covering tens of thousands of acres, could hold some real surprises.

Roo said: ‘We’ll be managing Farmoor One into a pike water and having six to eight weekends on their next winter. These trials on there didn’t produce a huge amount landed but quite few others were seen and lost to the mid 30 mark.’
