The new Drennan signing followed that up with a 166lb match win the following day for back-to-back wins and over 400lb of fish!

That feat was achieved at Ivy House Lakes in Wiltshire, a venue that has recently been taken over by well-respected matchman, Andy Lloyd.

Steve’s record-breaking catch beats the previous best of 191lb and was taken from Peg 6 on the main lake.

The winning tactics were dead maggots fished at 13 metres toward the next pallet in 2ft of water and accounted for fish from 7lb to 17lb.

“I used pink Bungee elastic through a Carp Kit with 0.20mm Drennan Supplex line to an 0.18mm hooklength of the same material,” Steve commented.

“It was a take-no-prisoners scenario and the perfect test for my new Acolyte pole!”

Steve capped off a great weekend the following day with another match win at the venue, this time with 166lb from Peg 23. Again, margin tactics paid off handsomely, this time with a swim fed with dead maggots and a closer swim fed with groundbait.
