ANGLER'S MAIL magazine columnist Steve Collett (pictured below) is getting set to try and defend one of the most star-studded events of the angling calendar, the 2016 PDC Fishing Championship.
The 2016 fourth Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) Invitational Fishing Championship – a match for chairty – takes place on Sunday, July 10.
And following promotion in Angler’s Mail magazine, all free tickets to watch have been snapped up!
The contest is being held again at the impressive 100-acre fishery, Manor Farm Fishing Ltd, Biggleswade, Bedfordshire.
Top tackle specialists Sonik Sports are the 2016 headline sponsor, and this unique annual contest will be filmed and aired on Sky Sports TV.
This spectacular 24-angler charity tournament features famous sportsmen and women, celebrities and corporate guests all competing for the coveted trophy whilst supporting Haven House Children’s Hospice.
Darts god Phil Taylor is lined up to swap his arrows for rods and seven times PDC major champion James Wade plus the ‘king of bling’ Bobby George are also there from the ‘arrers’ scene, along with walk-on girl Daniella Allfree.
Daniella (seen above) has been practising, and she featured recently in Angler’s Mail magazine, showing fine skills alongside Steve Collett.
PDC contest nets celebs from sport and screen
It’s not just about darts stars. Snooker legend Steve Davis OBE, Welsh cue wizard Mark Williams MBE, who is also a very keen angler, and 2015 World Snooker Champ Stuart Bingham will be there.
Keen carp angler, founder and chairman of Matchroom Sport, Barry Hearn is ready to fish. Can he put fish in his net like he whips soundbites out when he’s promoting sports? We shall see…
Angler’s Mail also hears there will be a team of boxers including Anthony Crolla, the current WBA lightweight champion. Nobody would argue with their chances!
Popular EastEnders actor Jake Wood is back, having caught his very first fish in the 2015 PDC event. He plus The Only Way is Essex reality star Ricky Rayment and big funnyman Ricky Grover are amongst competitors taking part this year.
2015’s winner, Angler’s Mail magazine’s popular columnist Steve Collett, will be returning to take part to see if he can keep hold of the title. The AM team and readers, who know how good he is, will surely be backing Steve for victory… but the draw and tactics on the day could put anyone in the frame!
Jess Harding, managing director of JBD Events, who runs this contest for Haven House Children’s Hospice and the PDC, said: “We would like to invite families to come along for free this year and experience this relaxed, fun event.
“We thank our sponsors, Sonik, Dalroad, GT Elite Cars Ltd, Sibley Law, Manor Farm Fishing Ltd, Wickman and Ellis Caterers for making this wonderful event possible.”
FREE entry for the public were by advance ticket request only and have now all gone – sorry folks!
