Hereford Winter League, Round 2. River Wye at Hereford. Sun. 72. Welsh Wizards team member Danny Baker, from Tredegar, led the way on a match length that had risen 4ft overnight with 41-10-0 of big chub on stick float and maggots from the second peg from the top of the tennis courts. Dave Harrell (Match Fishing) was on peg 28 on the Belmont section and caught dace and roach on stick float and maggots for 37-4-0 and second place while the noted willow tree barbel peg at the bottom of the tennis courts gave Shakespeare team man Steve Williams five weighing 36-3-0; Rory Jones (Woody’s) 34-8-0; John Barrett (Turner’s Tackle) 34-0-0; Dave Roberts (Woody’s) 30-13-0. Fish of the match was the 7-4-0 chub caught by Tony Boukley (Wolves) from the peg above the rowing club at Belmont and several more over 5lb were weighed. Alan Dalby (Lanes Baits) took second place with 16-0-0 of carp to 9lb with F1′s and skimmers making up his weight, which he tempted on poled caster at 13 metres, from peg 2, on Molands Mere.
