<p>The Waterski Lake at <strong>Tattershall Country Park, </strong>Tattershall, Lincolnshire<strong> </strong>is open until the very end of March. This is excellent news for the pike anglers as this venue contains pike of various sizes, including some right big lasses! Ordinary day tickets on the lakes are £5 for one rod or £7 for two; it may vary a little for the pike fishing. Club bookings are also available &#8211; call 01526 348800 or 07984 825671.<br />
<strong>River Great Ouse </strong>at<strong> </strong>Tempsford in Bedfordshire.</p>
<p>This is Bigglewade and Hitchin AA water, membership is open and available from local tackle shops or call 01767 223147. It’s £60 adults; £30 for OAPs, registered disabled and 16-17-year-olds; and £15 for under-16s.</p>

THE <strong>River Glen, </strong>Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire (01406 422020) has given both pleasure and match anglers some blistering action as the resident silver fish decided to feed hard at last.</p>
<p>In the same county <strong>West Fen Drain,</strong> Boston, (01205 353436) is another ‘in form’ venue.<br />
At <strong>Suffolk Water Park</strong>, Bramford, Suffolk (01473 832327) venue regular Alan Sisson was pleased with his latest pike capture, which planked the scales down to 25 lb 12 oz.</p>

<strong>Hallcroft Fisheries, </strong>Retford, Nottinghamshire. Here, you can fish many of the pools for carp or if you fancy, some excellent winter sport with silver fish. The site has all the mod cons you would want and a day ticket is just £5 for adults with concessions. The number to call for Hallcroft is 01777 710448.<br />
<strong>Wetlands Animal Park </strong>has two popular lakes to fish. The Main Lake, 48 pegs, has various species but there is an emphasis on the carp. This one is also £5, with concessions, call 01777 818099 for more.<br />
<strong>Beckering’s Reservoir, </strong>Steppingley, Bedfordshire.<br />
Beckering’s is just one of many waters on the Luton Angling Club card. Membership is openly available; costs are £48 for an adult or £29 for an intermediate, OAP or registered disabled; there is a one-off joining fee for all these categories. <p><strong>Denton Reservoir,</strong> Denton, Lincolnshire (07827 722885). If you’re on the lookout for a big (area) pike venue then this members only Grantham AA club water could be your cup of tea.</p>
<p>Next to <strong>Thornham Lakes,</strong> Thornham Parva, Suffolk (07810 653600). Here there are a trio of fish-filled lakes situated on an old, peaceful, picturesque Suffolk estate.<br />
<strong>Watercolours Lakes </strong>at Chapel St. Leonards, Lincolnshire (01754 874289). If you’re thinking of a late season break on the Lincolnshire coast then this pleasure fishing only venue might fit the bill.</p>

<p>Over at Maver Larford there are three lakes plus a long stretch of the <strong>River Severn </strong>to investigate. To fish at this one it costs £7 for adults or £5 for concessions, the contact number is 01299 829373.<br />
In Shropshire <strong>Octoplus Boldings, </strong>near Bridgnorth,<strong> </strong>offers a wide variety of pools to fish and a wide variety of fish to try to catch. It’s £5.50 adults or £4.50 concessions to fish this one. Costs are for one rod, add £1 for an extra rod, contact 01746 763255.<br />
In Staffordshire the big two are <strong>Heronbrook Fisheries </strong>and <strong>Cudmore Fisheries</strong>.<strong> </strong>Heronbrook has six pools on offer where all sorts of species including double-figure barbel and 30 lb carp are on the cards. It is £8 a day to fish Heronbrook or £7 for concessions.<br />
North of the county <strong>Stapeley Cudmore </strong>offers various pools and canals to suit all abilities. Everything from small roach to catfish! Prices vary per pool: Arena is £10 with no concessions, generally others are £8 or £6 concessions. The contact number is 01782 680919.<br />
In Warwickshire try <strong>Tunnel Barn Fisheries, </strong>Shrewley. A choice of seven pools and miles of canal, call 01926 842975. It is £8 for adults or £6 concessions to fish the pools at this one.<br />
At <strong>Dynamite Makin’s</strong>,<strong> </strong>Wolvey the choice is so immense the fishery is split into three phases! There are 18 lakes of all shapes and sizes to fish. Costs are £7 adults or £5 concessions for one rod or £10/£8 for two. The contact number is 01455 220877.<br />
<strong>EAST ANGLIA </strong></p>
<p><strong>Bridge Inn Fisheries,</strong> Lenwade, Norfolk (01603 872248). On offer are winter tickets from October 1 to March 31 at half price, £100 for six months’ fishing &#8211; sounds good to me.<br />
<strong>Taverham Mills Lake,</strong> Taverham, Norfolk (01603 861014). Carp fishing is always good during October here and there is a chance of a large specimen in autumn. Seek advice on the going swims from Simon or Darren.<br />
Opening from October 1 to the end of December is the 20-acre <strong>Stradsett Lake,</strong> King’s Lynn, Norfolk (01553 636507). Pike and bream are in abundance.<br />
<strong>Bartles Lodge,</strong> Elsing, Norfolk (01362 637177) is where owner Chris Mack is starting a junior angling club; contact Chris on the above number or visit Facebook and go onto the Bartles Juniors page. A series of lakes here to choose from and all are well stocked to give a high level of sport throughout the year.</p>

<p><strong>Ashfield AC </strong>at<strong> </strong>Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire now controls the fishing at the Gunthorpe Gravel Pit complex, near Bulcote; this includes the Dollar, FP, Duffers, Kingfisher and Tench Lakes as well as the River Trent from Cocker Dyke behind the lakes upstream through Burton Meadows, The Rack, Nelson field, Road stretch, Ferry field, Stoke Lock and the stretch above Stoke Lock.</p>
<p>Day tickets are still available on the Road stretch from the Nelson field up to the Stoke Bardolph estate gate; day tickets are £6 from 7am to 7pm or from 7pm to 7am on the bank.
