SNOW CARP!

IT WOULD have been impossible to notice that the last month has been absolutely dominated by the weather!

With an unseasonably mild start to the month many big carp were getting banked. None more impressive than Cliff Kemp’s 43lb linear which he caught from an undisclosed day ticket water.

The relentless wind and rain couldn’t stop Cliff snaring this magnificent 43lb 3oz linear!

Filming on the I.O.W.

In the blink of an eye the conditions turned from super mild and ‘carpy’ to a winter wonderland and snow swept across the UK.

When the weather hit I was over on the Isle of Wight at Rookley Country Park with Lewis Porter and Mark Pitchers, Lewis was shooting a feature and I was getting some more footage for our up and coming DVD.

With adverse weather conditions Mark was certainly up against it, however the snow held off until the final day and Mark did the business by nailing three 20lbers for the cameras.

Mark was using a number of new rig components which we have been testing since the summer. Needless to say he has been mega impressed with them and we are very excited about their launch later in the year!

The snow has put paid too much of our angling over the past few weeks and we have had features and filming cancelled on numerous occasions. Saying that a number of our consultants have been getting out and have bagged themselves a much coveted ‘snow carp’.

Andy Maker ventured out to a bitterly cold and nailed a gorgeous common. The fish was caught using a chopped down Cell and Clockwork Orange Pop-up combo, presented on 6” of Coretex Hooklink and a size 5 Arma Point SSBP hook.

Adding to the flurry of snow carp filtering through my inbox was this cracking picture from Rob Hughes. He almost didn’t make it out to Longleet that day as snow covered roads caused havoc for drivers, in fact he had to turn back and head for home at one point to wait for it all to clear.

Eventually he managed to get on the bank and only had three hours to his disposal before the gates closed. With time against him, Rob decided regular recasts to search out the fish would be the way forward.

Rob Hughes battled the elements to net this stunning linear

With just five minutes before he had to pack up a carp picked up his Hellraiser Pop-up hookbait and the SSBP found a secure hold in its bottom lip. The result was a stunning linear which when held aloft for the cameras looked all the more amazing with the fantastic scenery which surrounded it.

SHOW TIME HAS STARTED

Fox showcasing at the Brentwood Carp Show

The weekend just passed, saw the Fox Team make the short trip to Brentwood for the Carp Spectacular show (look out for Angler’s Mail magazine’s own highlights in the must-read tackle section).

The show was very well attended and from start to finish the stand was buzzing with anglers wanting to get an up close look at all our new goodies.

The items receiving the most attention were the Supa Brolly System and the Black Label indicators, with the Rapide, FX Combo Chair and Horizon XTK Rods also drawing considerable crowds.

Many thanks to all who came over for a chat and if you didn’t attend, please come along to The Big One Show (where Angler’s Mail will be attending with a “man of the moment” and great subscription deal) in a few weeks time!
