IT’S that time of year when waters start to fish their heads off so it’s time to get the rods out.
August-September generally brings with it the Korda Annual Road Trip to France and this year was no different. This event sees many of the guys from Korda UK travel to France in a quest for some huge European fish. This year didn’t disappoint. The destination was Gigantica and Danny’s latest project, The Road Lake.
To say it fished its ‘wotsits’ off was an understatement as the majority of the lads caught and personal bests were broken. Garth Ethelston landed a PB mirror of 51lb 12oz – a carp known as Pips fishing stinky Baitworks Crab bottom baits over fishmeals, while other notable captures included The Immaculate common to Jake Wildbore at 59lb 4oz and The Galaxy at 53lb 12oz to Darrell, plus shedloads of forties. It was a week to remember for the boys.
One other notable week went to Jon Sissons who had a flier of a time at the Road Lake landing over 20 carp to 30lb plus. A lake that is certainly up and coming.
Brand-new video footage is hitting the Korda website on a daily basis with the latest being Jamie Londors and Billy Flowers taking apart Lily Lakes in Cambridge on long-distance zig-rigs. The two England Internationals show us the finer details of this intriguing presentation and show us how to employ it in particularly deep water.
For all you specimen carpers out there, you also need to watch Ed Betteridge’s latest video. He has captured footage of the one and only Burghfield Common quietly going about her business…unfortunately not with him holding her…yet!
Show season begins in the next month or so pop and say hi if you’re about, either at Sandown or Manchester; we’re always willing to have a chat or give any advice. Not only that, you’ll also see a few nifty new products, including the stylish t-shirts.
A little tip for these autumnal carp is to get the bait going in. The fish are really switched on now so give them some proper food. Get rid of the all the particles and bits, and give them nutritious boilies. It’s big fish time so go and bag yourself a new PB!
