WELCOME to our latest daily blog, exclusively here on the Angler’s Mail website.
Thursday is our Big Fish Blog and it’s the turn of Pallatrax, our Specimen Cup sponsors. Team Pallatrax leader Clint Walker wrote this interesting instalment, covering specimen hunting, match fishing and more.
We hope you enjoy the blog, and share it with your friends on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the icons above, or by the “old skool” method of telling fellow anglers! Feel free also to comment by using the special space at the bottom of this page.
WINNING MATCHES AND CATCHING SPECIMENS!
AFTER the initial introductions, it’s down to the nitty gritty of supplying a regular blog to the UK’s best read weekly all round angling mag…….and, as usual, my mind has gone blank, but I’ll see what I can muster….
Personally, I haven’t been fishing since my adventures with Angler’s Mail photographer Ian Chapman at Pendle View during our recent perch session, but I know other members of the team have been out and about on the bankside, so here is a little of what they have been up to….
Team Pallatrax member Tom Downing posted yet another match win at Tarka Swims near Bideford, Devon with the best weight of the current ten match series! Tom fished Pallatrax 8mm pellets up in the water to take over 40lb of fish and ran out a worthy winner, finishing the series in third place, just three points adrift of the overall first placed angler.
The week before, Tom also bagged a match victory in the Riveton Open when he used Pallatrax Method mix and the fantastic Squab hookbaits to batter the opposition with 79 lb 9oz; second place weighed in with just 35lb, so another super result for our up and coming matchman! Fantastic river fishing for our guys
‘Geordie’ Ray Pulford has constructed another fine piece of writing for our website (www.pallatrax.co.uk) about his quest for river barbel; despite a string of big carp catches to his name, Ray hadn’t had much success with running water barbel and was keen to learn more from fellow Team members Jez Brown and Luke Ayling who both have a fine pedigree when it comes to river work.Arriving at the River Wye near Hereford to find it running a good few feet up, Jez reports feeling confident that fish would show despite the flow, and so it proved with a haul of a dozen barbel to just over 7lb and almost as many chub which fell to Pallatrax Elixir6 Squabs wrapped in paste. All the fish were taken from the near bank margin;- the only place the trio could hold bottom! Returning the following day, our lads were soon back onto the fish when Luke netted a 9lb barbel.
The fishing continued to improve as the river level dropped and Ray was lucky enough to hit a double take for a brace at 7lb 15oz and 8lb+ before the session finally ended. Pallatrax Stonze provided ample weight to offer a natural presentation in conjunction with short Steamlink hook links and size 10 hooks. Bait throughout the session was Pallatrax Squabs wrapped in paste, and our Bloodworm Crush method mix squeezed tightly around the Stonze; a splash of our liquid additives completed the traps.
Proud to sponsor the biggest big fish competition
Well, if you read Angler’s Mail, then you cannot fail to have noticed that Pallatrax currently sponsor the fantastic Specimen Cup competition which is completely free to enter and offers the biggest prizes available to every angler in the country!
All you have to do is catch a decent fish, send it into Anglers Mail and if you are selected, we do the rest!
Every week Pallatrax offer great bait and tackle prizes in addition to the cash offered by AM, and this prize is even better if you win the monthly grab, but then there is the BIG winner who gets an amazing £3000 cash and oodles of goodies in a Pallatrax bundle! What are you waiting for?
We are extremely pleased to be able to partner AM in this competition, it is fantastic way to introduce anglers to our products and a great chance for you to win big prizes!
Facebook growth and free prize draws
Our Facebook pages continue to gather pace with over 1,500 users; we find that this is an easy conduit to interaction with our friends and customers who can give immediate feedback and tell us of their catches. Social media is something we take very seriously at Pallatrax, we are extremely keen to offer customers the chance to ask direct questions to our team and take advantage of free prize draws which happen weekly. Our Facebook page has grown from 400 users in 2011 to where it is now due to the hard work of our team, so why not pop in and ‘like’ us to find out more?
We are Twits too! Our Twitter pages also have a strong following, up from 32 in 2011 to just over 1500 today. It’s another instant connection and portal for our customers and a quick message retweeted by other followers can often reach over 10000 anglers within seconds; how can we not afford to take advantage of that? Follow us at @pallatraxuk
Plenty coming up in the weeks ahead
What do we have coming up in the next month? Our Team will be out and about on the bank talking to anglers and showing off our products, you will be able to read their monthly ‘Top Tips’ in Angler’s Mail and no doubt each week we will have new features up on our website for you to enjoy.
And you can listen to Team member and top radio presenter Martin James on BBC Radio Lancashire every Thursday at 7pm as he talks fishing and Pallatrax with studio guests. We will also be cementing our relationship with Devon venue Emperor Lakes one of Devon’s premier carp and cat fisheries with cats in excess of 70lb and carp to 40lb+. It’s a relationship we are keen to progress as new owners David and Jo Lidstone continue to make huge steps forward and gain more visitors every week; if you are down that way, make sure you look them up….
We would like to welcome a new stockist on board too; Allen’s Fishing Tackle at 651 Bloxwich Rd, Walsall, West Midlands now stock a comprehensive range of Pallatrax products.
To finish our first ‘proper’ blog, I’ll leave you with a whisper we’ve heard….. a famous chap off the telly bagged a cracking 14 lb 4 oz barbel on our baits and we can’t wait to see the pictures; if we get them, we’ll be sure to share!
